Constantinos Kallias
BSc(Hons) MCOptom DipCLP

Constantinos graduated from UMIST University in Manchester with honors degree in Optometry in 1999. He registered with the General Optical Council UK in September 2000 and also became a member of the College of Optometrists UK (MCOptom).

He worked in Birmingham for 7 years as a mobile optometrist in various independent practices until the summer of 2006 that he returned to the family business in Larnaca.

Constantinos worked as a Specialist Optometrist and Specialist Contact Lens practitioner in different hospitals in the West Midlands: Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre, Birmingham Children's Hospital, Guest Hospital in Dudley and Sandwell General Hospital. His main interest was always in contact lenses. He acquired the Diploma in Contact Lens Practice (DipCLP) in October 2005. This is the highest qualification in contact lens practice.

Constantinos was also involved in Diabetic Retinopathy Screening schemes in different Health Authorities of the West Midlands. Certain Optometrists are qualified to screen and assess diabetic patients for diabetic retinopathy to reduce the load of these patients seen at the hospital eye service.

Since his arrival the practice name has changed from "Mary Kallia Opticians" to "KALLIAS Optometrists".

These days Constantinos is working between his practice and Pantheo Eye Centre (www.pantheo.com) as Specialist Optometrist and Specialist Contact Lens practitioner.

He is currently the Principal Optometrist at Pantheo Eye Centre and the President of the Association of Optometrists in Cyprus.

 

 

Mary Kallias
BDO (Hons) CL

Mary graduated from City College in London in 1974 as a Dispensing Optician. Following her pre-registration year she registered with the General Optical Council UK. She then undertook the contact lens course for 2 years where she qualified as a contact lens practitioner while she was working at an independent practice in London for 5 years. In 1980 she returned to Larnaca as the first female optician in Cyprus where she started her own practice. Mary still carries on working full time at her well established practice.
